The Kangaloon Group Creative Ecology February 2010 has seen the first official get together of The Kangaloon Group and I'm proud to be a founding member along with my friend poet Mark Tredinnick www.marktredinnick.com.au and Anthropologist Deborah Bird Rose & co. (see www.ecologicalhumanities.org ) and Philosopher Freya Mathews www.freyamathews.com & others. After being inspired by a symposium at Macquarie Uni headed by visiting philosopher Prof. James Hatley (Salisbury USA) we felt our collective passions could be put to good use. We describe ourselves as a fellowship of creative scholars who are looking at bringing our talents, expertise & passion to present exhibitions, performances and events both artistic & academic to address our concerns with our changing environment. watch this space! To see how these creative colleagues have already inspired me see my field notes: inland page |
inland I've just got back from a painting trip this August/Sept 2009. I worked in and around Broken Hill, in particular the Mundi Mundi Plain. From Broken Hill I travelled inland to South Australia's Flinders Ranges. Once there I worked around the Hawker area, up to Wilpena Pound and journeyed up North to the Gammon Ranges and Arkaroola. It was creatively fruitful and photos & some pastels will feature on Field Notes: see Inland |
| Thanks
to all those who attended my latest exhibition RED EARTH COUNTRY in Bowral, June 2009. Thanks also to Shirley & Jim Becke of the Milk Factory Gallery. Extra thanks to the folks of the Southern Highlands. You made me feel at home and your comments and feedback are greatly appreciated. To those who purchased my work: may you enjoy my pictures as much as I enjoyed creating and presenting them. |
